Android Trading at Bitpanda

Leading revenue-critical trading features on an investing app with 8M+ users, from RFC to rollout and monitoring.

I'm a Senior Software Engineer at Bitpanda, a European investing platform with more than 8 million users. People use the app to move real money, in a regulated market, so it has to be fast, available, and right every time. Most of my work is shipping new products into that app without making it any less trustworthy.

Trading features, end to end

I've led the delivery of some of the app's revenue-critical features: Staking, Margin Trading and Real Stocks. For each one I took it from the RFC and architecture design, through implementation and a careful rollout, to the monitoring that tells us it's healthy in production.

I also delivered Vision, Bitpanda's Web3 experience, on Android, working across product, design and backend so it matched the rest of the app and followed the design system.

Architecture and contracts

  • Own and evolve the client architecture for trading, asset discovery and Web3, so new features have a stable place to land.
  • Define the client-server GraphQL contracts together with backend engineers.

Observability

I set up and drove the observability practices the teams now rely on, using Datadog and Firebase Analytics. Teams can follow every step of the trading funnels, detect issues before users report them, and make product decisions based on data.

How the team works

  • Led the team's adoption of agentic AI workflows with Claude Code: shared rules, sub-agents and skill definitions. It sped up delivery and reduced the manual work in code review.
  • Introduced CI automation that detects Design System changes, which reduced UI regressions and kept engineering and design aligned.
  • Onboarded new engineers, wrote onboarding docs, and coordinated releases so design, QA and product always knew what was going out.
